Exhibition Opening Night

It was a wonderful exhibition opening night last night at the Midland Junction Arts Centre (MJAC).

As attendees arrived they were met with a drink, name tag and invited to mingle. Then MJAC Director Jenny Haynes welcomed everyone and introduced American Quiltmaker Maria Shell who opened the exhibition with a lovely speech. She was followed by Marilyn Clarke Murphy who thanked all involved in the exhibition especially the artists.

The exhibition is on at MJAC until the 14th July. Please take the time to visit and support our local textile and quilt artists. Don’t forget to drop by the Veranda Studio to see the the Artists in Residence at work!

Exhibits Have Been Selected!!

Emails have been sent to all those that submitted a piece for stitched and bound this year with an letter providing the results of the jurors’ deliberations.

Congratulations to those whose pieces were selected and commiserations to those whose pieces didn’t get in.

If you received your letter, please ensure you reply to the email acknowledging receipt of the letter as the committee wants to be sure all entrants are aware of the outcome of their entry.

If you haven’t received your letter, please check your junk/spam folder just in case, otherwise contact Susan Sheath or Marilyn Clark-Murphy on waqasandb@gmail.com.

Workshops at Carnarvon. 2.

The second workshop at Carnarvon was in the Jubilee Hall and everyone spent a lovely messy day microwave dyeing. As well as the local crafters, there were some visitors who were just passing through and saw the ads and signed up!

Workshops at Carnarvon. 1.

Tutor Phil Thomas travelled up from Perth this weekend, to give a picture quilt workshop to the eager craft girls in Carnarvon. They had limited time for the class due to travel glitches, but everyone was very patient and did an amazing job in the end. Lovely to see the exhibition space in the background too…
