Botanical Contact Printing, often called Eco Dyeing.

One day workshop covering the basics ( and quite a bit more) of Eco Dyeing.

Despite being only one day we will cover the techniques needed for successful prints on both protein and cellulose fabrics.

Emphasis will be placed on correct methods for bundling, plus the importance of understanding the interaction of iron and tannins.

The use of dye blankets and carrier cloths will be covered.

Participants will take home a scarf, sample pieces and mordant recipes for dyeing protein and cellulose.

As it’s our first class, and this one will be totally free, we are looking for those WA textile artists who have previously entered stitched and bound and are interested in learning about eco dyeing.

We have places for approx 8 people.

● Firstly email us (waqasandb@gmail.com) one or two sentences to tell us how this will help your art practice. Please keep it brief. This will help us to choose who gets a place.
● After the class you will as a small group to do a presentation at Contemporary Quilt Group, in Feb. (CQG meets on the 2nd Friday of each month). To show us what you learned, show some items, and give information about the process and/or perhaps an activity.
